VerticaleBot
VerticaleBot reads websites for Verticale, which builds new websites for small businesses. When a business starts its new site, VerticaleBot reads the one it has now, so the new site starts from the business’s own words, prices and photos.
When it visits
Only when someone starts or refreshes a website on Verticale and gives the address of their current one. It doesn’t crawl the web and doesn’t come back on a schedule. Each visit reads at most 32 pages, 8 PDF documents and 32 images, and stays on that one site.
How it behaves
It follows your robots.txt: the rules for VerticaleBot, or else those for all robots. It waits between requests as long as your Crawl-delay asks. It never signs in, fills in forms, runs scripts or gets around a challenge.
What it reads is used only to prepare that business’s new website. It isn’t sold, used for advertising or used to train AI models.
How to recognise it
Its user agent is:
VerticaleBot/1.0 (+https://getverticale.com/bot)
Every request is also signed with Web Bot Auth, so a program that only claims to be VerticaleBot can be told apart. Its public key is published at:
getverticale.com/.well-known/http-message-signatures-directoryBlock it or allow it
To keep VerticaleBot out of your site, add this to your robots.txt:
User-agent: VerticaleBot Disallow: /
If your bot protection blocks it and you’d like your site to be read, allow requests that carry a valid Web Bot Auth signature from getverticale.com, or allow verified bots if your provider lists them.
